Dirk Saltzgaber
Recruiting Coordinator Pitching Coach
After a one-year break from coaching at McMurry, Dirk Saltzgaber returned to the dugout where he spent six prior years as part of former McMurry head coach Lee Driggers’ staff. Saltzgaber, now in his seventh season and is the recruiting coordinator and pitching coach. He also performs administrative duties such as travel accommodations.
Saltzgaber was in charge of McMurry’s Tribe Development Program (JV) in his first two years (2002-03) and assisted with varsity outfielders during that stretch. Beginning in 2004, he took over duties as the recruiting coordinator for Driggers, and worked with infielders and outfielders.
A former three-sport star in baseball, ice hockey and soccer at Ithaca (N.Y.) High School, Saltzgaber graduated from Ithaca College in 1978 with a bachelor’s degree in management. He also earned a master’s degree at Plattsburgh State University in New York
Saltzgaber is a retired Lieutenant Colonel in the U.S. Air Force. He served 22 years in the service as a B-1 weapons systems operator. He and his wife, Sherrie, are members of Beltway Park Baptist Church. The couple has one daughter, Corey, and three sons: Ryan and twins Derek and Nathan. Ryan played baseball at UT-San Antonio and both Nathan and Derek played baseball at McMurry beginning in 2009.
