Brent Voorhees
GA Baseball
Like fellow former McMurry all-American Josh Lee, Brent Voorhees coached at his alma mater in 2009 as a graduate assistant. Among his duties, he coached hitters and in games he served as the first-base coach as well as the head JV coach.
Voorhees was the epitome of a scholar-athlete during his four-year career at McMurry. On top of being one of the most dominant sluggers to ever play in the American Southwest Conference, Voorhees graduated in 2008 with a 3.91 GPA and a degree in mathematics en route to earning academic all-America honors by ESPN The Magazine and the College Sports Information Directors of America.
On the field, Voorhees was one of the most feared hitters in all of NCAA Division III as he finished as the ASC all-time leader in home runs, RBI and total bases. He finished his four-year playing career at McMurry with 45 home runs and 196 RBI. Voorhees was a d3baseball.com first-team all-American selection in 2007 and a third-team all-West Region selection in 2008 even though he battled a shoulder dislocation his senior year.
He earned numerous all-ASC West Division honors in his four-year career, was a three-time academic all-conference honoree; the Hershel Kimbrell Award winner, which recognizes the top male student-athlete at McMurry for his academic and athletic accomplishments; and a first-team academic all-district selection by ESPN The Magazine and CoSIDA.
