Chase Holbrook
Assistant Quarterbacks Coach
Fresh off a successful three-year quarterbacking career at New Mexico State University, Chase Holbrook joins Hal Mumme's McMurry staff to coach running backs in his first coaching job.
Holbrook played the last three seasons for Mumme at NCAA Division I New Mexico State where he compiled 11,846 passing yards and 85 touchdowns. His sophomore season was his most recognized as he threw for 4,619 yards (most ever by a quarterback under Mumme) and 34 touchdowns.
That season, he set the single-season school record for passing yards, completions (397), attempts (566), touchdown passes, and consecutive 300-yard games (seven). He also had the single-game record for pass attempts (73), completions (50), consecutive completions (16) and longest pass completions (96 yards).
In 2007, he threw for 2,866 yards and 26 touchdowns and set the single-season pass completion percentage record at NMSU at 70.2 percent (381-543). In 2008, he capped his three-year career with a senior season tallying 3,361 yards and 25 touchdowns.
He left New Mexico State as the all-time leader in attempts (1,567), completions (1,087), completion percentage (.694), yards (11,846), touchdowns (85), consecutive games with a touchdown pass (17), and 300-yard games (24). In just three seasons, he also became the third all-time leading passer in the Western Athletic Conference.
Out of L.D. Bell High School in Hurst, Texas, he originally signed with Southeastern Louisiana State to run Mumme's offense there after Martin Hankins graduated. Holbrook backed up Hankins in the 2004 season and watched him throw for 4,240 yards and 35 touchdowns.
He received a redshirt in 2005 as he was forced to sit out a year because of the NCAA's Division I to I transfer rules.
Holbrook was born in Lubbock and lives in Abilene.
